Poverty has two opposing sides: poverty due to financial curse and poverty as demanded by the Gospel. Gospel poverty is poverty wherein we relinquish our financial wealth and put our total confidence on the Divine Providence, a level of faith intended only for a few souls who are called to attain the peak of perfection, hence the vow of poverty; and St. Francis of Assisi was exceptional in this area.
